Port of Toledo Sixth Annual Wooden Boat Show 2010

AUGUST 20-22, 2010

The 2010 show will celebrate the Port’s centennial year – Plan on attending the best show yet!

This promises to be the best Wooden Boat Show ever, celebrating the Port's 100th Anniversary with lots of fun, family-friendly activities, live music, food, plenty of water-related activities and some new surprises! We'll kick it off Friday evening with live music, food, and a special Centennial Celebration. The Wooden Boat Show is located at Toledo's Port Dock 1, just a block away from Main Street where you can visit local businesses and area restaurants. There's something for everyone!

Here is the music line-up for this year's festival:

The Melody Butchers will kick off the show Friday night from  7:00 -11:00 p.m. Billed as ‘Rock & Roll’s Finest’, the 4-piece Portland-based band covers classic rock oldies from Tom Petty to the Beatles.

Live music resumes Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Sons of the Beaches, a local group that describes its style as “Folk Rock Jazz Beach Bum Music.” Members have performed together, in one form or another, for more than 30 years. From 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. is Sawcordian, from Parkdale, Oregon, – featuring saws, an accordion and a stand-up bass.

Perpetua will be on stage Saturday from 2:15 – 3:00 p.m. The ensemble performs everything from lyrical ballads to straight standards to swing to modern funk. Although they cover tunes from such artists as Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Carlos Santana, John Coltrane, Vince Guaraldi, and George Gershwin, the real focus of the band is on their own compositions.

From 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., its Unkle Nancy and the Family Jewels, the popular group from Portland. Unkle Nancy, from “Everywhere” Oregon, has dabbled in a host of musical genres including: hip hop, indie, backwoods country and now pirate folk rock. Their album, Gypsy Pirate Blues, includes drunken sing-a-longs, old ragtime style tunes, murder stories, and love songs.

Next up is Gumbo, a four-piece band from Corvallis, from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Featuring ex-Magpie player Sid Beam, also formerly of the MudTones.

Saturday evening will feature Stepchild, a Rock-N-Roll Band in the Portland area that plays music from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s thru the 2000’s. They’re onstage from 7:30 p.m. until 11.

Music begin Sunday at 11:00 a.m with The GraceNotes, a local 5-woman a capella group. From Noon to 12:45, enjoy Past Forward, the Oregon Coast five-piece jazz ensemble that plays standards, show tunes and nostalgia from the 1920s through the 1960s. That will be followed by a local drum troupe, and local favorites Bill Dalbey and Franki Trujillo-Dalbey from 2:00 to 2:45.
